How to Get to Vashon Island: Our island is accessible only by boat. Unless you have your own sea-fairing vessel, the most reliable way to get here is on a WA State Ferry. The WA State Ferries to Vashon Island leave from West Seattle and Tacoma regularly. The schedule from Seattle is available HERE and Tacoma/Pt Defiance is HERE. Downtown Vashon and Farmstead Meatsmith are both driving distance from either ferry dock, so we recommend bringing a vehicle.
The closest airport to Vashon is Sea-Tac Airport near South Seattle. The airport is a 20 minute drive to the Fauntleroy Ferry Dock in West Seattle.
Where to Stay: To add to your class experience, we highly recommend spending the night on island. After a long day of meatsmithing, traveling to the city and back may be a bit taxing. Vashon doesn’t have a proper hotel at this time, but there are many lovely places to cozy up through AirBnB.com.

One of our favorites is a farm stay at Cornerstone Farm, a certified raw milk dairy in the center of the island. We also love the 2 bedroom waterfront cabin on Quartermaster Harbor and the room in a farmhouse next to Flash the Llama. You can also check the Chamber of Commerce listing for lodging options. *Just added as an option in 2015 are the Vashon Lodges, right in town. For campers please see the links on this site, as Vashon camping is limited. **Just added in 2016 are more summer camping options! See Maury Island Marine Park (Maury is attached to Vashon by a land bridge), or the AYH Ranch Hostel.
Vashon has many shops, cafes, farms and parks for you to explore during your stay. Take a look at our Chamber of Commerce website for more information on what Vashon has going on.
